Lost Shell in the Forest: Signed Edition of 100

$50.00

A green abalone shell (Haliotis fulgens) lays empty on the bottom of the giant kelp forest in Laguna Beach, CA.

This image is part of "Into the Wild: Restoring the Endangered White Abalone", an exhibit of photographs highlighting the restoration efforts underway for the white abalone in Southern California. White abalone are one of seven species of abalone native to the waters of the Pacific off California's coast, and the first marine invertebrate to be listed as endangered. A captive breeding and outplanting program has been established to support the recovery of white abalone populations in the wild. The rocky reefs at the floor of the giant kelp forests in Southern California are the historic habitat for several abalone species, including green, pink, red, pinto and white abalone.
