About the Artists

Dwight Hwang creates classical Japanese gyotaku art and European nature printing. Whether his subject is a fish, plants, birds, or even a person, he pushes not only the art but himself to bring awe, memories, and quiet contemplation to viewers worldwide. Partnered with institutions like NOAA and Patagonia, his work has been exhibited in museums such as the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, displayed in hospitality such as the Four Seasons Resorts, and showcased in publications including Forbes.

Oriana Poindexter is a photographer and marine scientist focused on the intersection of art, science, and marine natural resources. After working for nearly a decade in fisheries science with the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and NOAA Fisheries, she now focuses on the use of photography to help viewers understand the ever-changing natural world. Her work has been featured by the Getty Museum and The Wall Street Journal, and she has created interpretive visual exhibits for the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Birch Aquarium.
